What is Mountain Skillz?

Who is Matt Entz?

MOUNTAIN SKILLZ is your GO-TO source for professional instructional-based mountain snowmobiling and motorized-specific avalanche safety training! Snowmobilers of ALL skill levels are welcome from the first-time mountain rider to the advanced rider seeking a challenge and EVERYTHING in between. Our services are proudly offered under a Special Use Permit throughout the Divide Ranger District of the Rio Grande National Forest. Southern Colorado is home to some of the best snow conditions, terrain, and weather in the world. 6 separate trailheads assure you diverse opportunities and the best terrain specifically for your needs and interests. Need a snowmobile or want to try a new one, we offer a variety of 2018 Polaris AXYS RMK 800’s for rent. We appreciate your patience while we update our website with all of our exciting new information and details!!

For the 2017-2018 winter we are proud to offer standard riding workshops (1, 2, or 3 day),  Ladies Clinics, Introduction to Avalanches Course, AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course, and Special Events! At MOUNTAIN SKILLZ, we stress reading and understanding the daily avalanche forecast and bulletin along with the local weather forecast. Preparation is a key element to a successful day of snowmobiling. All students are required to carry proper avalanche gear (properly functioning beacon and wear a backpack containing a metal shovel and probe) which we can provide at NO COST for daily use. Guests will evaluate snow conditions and terrain throughout each day with an emphasis on safe travel management. Our focus on improving your riding skills and technique is based on your individual ability and experience. Through our skill assessments, you will have the opportunity to learn and apply proper technique to a wide variety of mountain riding disciplines including getting and riding a sled on edge, downhill descent, sidehilling, tree navigation, breaking trail, powder turns, climbing, turning out, jumping, getting unstuck, and much more. With improved “MOUNTAIN SKILLZ”, you will have a new-found confidence in your preparation, decision making, awareness, and riding abilities resulting in a safe and awesome mountain snowmobiling future! SEE YOU ON THE SNOW!
